Lakeview Wastewater Treatment Plant
Client: Region of Peel
KMK (which merged with UMA in 2007) partnered with Black & Veatch (B&V) on this $250 M project to increase the capacity of Lakeview WWTP from 336,000 m3/d to 448,000 m3/d.
This project started with a Regional Biosolids Management Strategy, Class Environmental Assessment and Clear Scents Odour Management Strategy. The work included improvements to headworks, primary and secondary treatment, disinfection, new facilities for waste activated sludge thickening and dewatering, expansion of the fluidized bed incinerator facility with the addition of four new 100 tonne per day units, and pilot study of the integrated fixed-film/activated sludge (IFAS) process. The project consisted of 10 individual contracts; Contract 10 will be finished in 2009.
This project was awarded the 2007 Willis Chipman Award by the Consulting Engineers of Ontario.
