Dorval Link Feasibility Study
Client: Aéroports de Montréal (ADM)
ADM wanted to introduce a railway shuttle that would link a new station at Pierre-Elliot Trudeau airport to CN’s Central Station and improve the intercity service offered by VIA Rail and commuter trains by AMT.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team with CIMA+ and SNC-Lavalin, UMA performed the feasibility study for the railway shuttle between the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport and CN’s Central Station.
The following items were taken into consideration in conducting the study:
-
Planned short- and medium-term schedules for VIA and commuter trains
-
Integration of the project into the MTQ’sDorval Traffic Circle rehabilitation project
-
The type of appropriate rolling stock available in North America
-
The present configuration of CN’s corridor
The study considered
three scenarios for the connection to CN’s corridor and the associated impacts of each. It also identified station platform requirements at Doval and Central Station and improvements needed to existing infrastructure in order to meet the project objectives.
This project was completed in 2005.
