Western Vaughan Transportation Improvements Individual Environmental Assessment
Client: Region of York
UMA is completing a three-year Individual Environmental Assessment (IEA) Transportation Improvements Study for the Region of York.
The study will investigate a full range of transportation improvements including highways, roads, public transit, rail and goods movement in the western half of the City of Vaughan.
The objectives of the study are to:
- Identify and advance a transportation network solution for a complex study area that is experiencing rapid growth and has very significant environmental constraints.
- Secure buy-in by many diverse stakeholders for the recommended program of improvements.
The scope of work includes:
- Project Management, including scope, budget, change control and quality management.
- Transportation Planning, including travel demand forecasting and modelling.
- Environmental Sciences, including investigation of a full range of natural, socio-economic, built and heritage environment factors as well as assessment and evaluation of both broad planning level transportation alternatives and more detailed design alternatives.
- A stakeholders’ communications program.
- Preliminary engineering design of the roadway links in the selected network.
- Liaison with agencies to obtain approvals and permits.
