Gold Bar WWTP - Digesters 7 & 8
Client: City of Edmonton

UMA is leading the detailed design, construction and commissioning of new Digesters 7 & 8 at the Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The project includes:
- Construction of two new mesophilic anaerobic digester tanks and mixing systems
- A new digester control building
- Tunnel extensions from the existing facility to the new digester complex.
The design will be flexible in order to accommodate varying sludge feedstock characteristics from new fermenters and a new chemically-enhanced primary treatment facility. Provisions will also be included to allow the new digesters to be operated at thermophilic temperatures, if desired by operations staff. The new digestion complex is scheduled to be operational in early 2010.
UMA was also project manager for a major upgrade of the Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant in 1980.
