Jim Stewart – President & CEO
Jim Stewart provides executive leadership and strategic vision to the organization. As primary liaison with UMA’s parent company, AECOM, and chair of UMA's Executive and Leadership committees, Jim drives growth and achievement as we pursue our vision of being the leader in our industry in Canada.
Jim is a professional engineer with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Alberta. He joined the firm in 1973 and gained a wide range of experience in land development and community infrastructure before assuming the role of Regional Vice President for UMA’s operations in Northern Alberta. In May 2004, Jim Stewart was appointed COO and in May 2005 became President and CEO.
Marg Latham – VP, Knowledge Management
Since 2000, Marg Latham has helped UMA achieve its strategic business goals though key initiatives including the firm’s quality management system (UMA QMS); corporate learning program; Innovation Awards; CADD standardization and automation; and information and knowledge management. Marg is also UMA’s Corporate Safety Officer, responsible for the firm’s health and safety program.
Marg is a member of Canadian Construction Women and recently completed a two-year term as President. She is also an active participant in APEGBC’s Division for the Advancement of Women in Engineering and Geoscience (DAWEG).
She started her career with UMA in 1984 as a construction superintendent and moved through a broad spectrum of project management positions across Canada before joining the corporate office as Director of Quality Systems in 1997.
Bob Foran – VP, Legal
Bob Foran is UMA's General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and VP, Legal. He is responsible for all legal, corporate, compliance and insurance/risk management matters affecting the business and operations of UMA Group Ltd. and its subsidiary companies.
Bob earned his law degree at Toronto's Osgoode Hall in 1975 and is a member of the Law Societies in Ontario, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Bob served as in-house counsel to several large Canadian corporations before joining UMA in 1990.
With his broad experience spanning the areas of contracts, engineering, construction, insurance and employment law, Bob manages the operations of the legal department and provides guidance and direction to the UMA management and executive teams to protect UMA's legal interests.
Bruce Richet – Senior VP, Community Infrastructure
Bruce Richet leads the firm’s Community Infrastructure group.
Bruce has a thorough understanding of the decision-making process at the community and government levels. As a result, he excels at managing projects that do not compromise the ideals of the community or the responsibilities of the developer.
Bruce joined UMA in 1977 after completing his engineering degree. He has steadily built his knowledge and reputation within the company from his base in Saskatchewan. He is former Alderman and Mayor of the Town of Dalmeny, Saskatchewan and continues to be active in community affairs with economic development, First Nations, business initiatives and youth programs.
Tom Wingrove - Senior VP, Earth & Water
Tom Wingrove has been with UMA for three decades, having joined the firm after graduating in 1973 with a degree in geological engineering from the University of Manitoba
Tom has published several technical papers related to cold climate engineering, groundwater issues and solid waste management. He is a past regional chair of the Geotechnical society and a past member of the Associate Committee of Geotechnical research
Tom is a member of several professional associations and is a Past President of the Consulting Engineers of Manitoba. He is currently on the Executive of ACEC. Before becoming the leader of our Earth & Water sector, he led the firm’s Earth & Environment division and was the Regional Vice President for Manitoba/northwestern Ontario.
Tom Knight - Senior VP, Transportation
Tom Knight leads UMA’s Transportation sector. In this role, Tom applies his strong project management perspective to UMA’s work in roads and highways, rail, airports and transit projects.
Tom joined UMA in 1978. His knowledge and influence within UMA were responsible for the creation of the Greater Toronto Airport Groundside Association (GTAGA), the stand-alone joint venture partnership between UMA and DMJM Harris. As lead engineer, GTAGA was responsible for master planning, design, engineering and construction review for all groundside facilities for the multi-billion dollar redevelopment of Toronto's Lester B. Pearson international airport.
Barry Hawkins - Senior VP, Energy & Facilities
Barry Hawkins leads our Energy and Facilities sector with a strong focus on project management. He has a strong client base that is both national and international in scope.
Since joining UMA in 1974, Barry has worked with our engineering group; the project and construction management group and UMATAC, our hydrocarbons technology group. Barry also played a key role in the development of our advanced research facilities group.
Barry is well-known for his talents in team building, marketing and client service. Away from the office, he is a member of the Calgary South Rotary Club, a charter member of the Project Management Institute, and a member of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.
