History

UMA has been building communities and the industries that support them for almost a century. Some operational milestones are listed below:

  • 1911 – Franklin McArthur and A.A. Murphy form a partnership in Saskatoon.
  • 1926 – Ed Underwood and Roy McLellan rename the firm Underwood & McLellan.
  • 1952 – The firm becomes Underwood McLellan & Associates.
  • 1954 – Expansion into Calgary and Winnipeg.
  • 1958 – Regina office opens.
  • 1965 – Edmonton and Vancouver offices open.
  • 1966 – Toronto office opens.
  • 1976 – UMATAC Industrial Processes is incorporated.
  • 1983 – The firm begins operating as UMA Engineering Limited. 
  • 2004 – UMA joins AECOM Technology Corporation.
  • 2006 – UMA obtains ISO 9001 certification.
  • 2007 – KMK Consultants Limited merges with UMA.
  • 2008 – Earth Tech, Gartner Lee, TSH and UMA all become known as
              AECOM
